Favorite Days in Lisbon

We had two more full days in Lisbon and those were our favorite days.  After a day and a half of sightseeing we decided to take a beach day.  The town of Estoril was about an hour train ride away.
We got there late morning and walked through the cute town down to the beach.
Right away Evan saw these guys playing Futevolei (Footvolley) and was intrigued.  They play on a sand volleyball court, but you can't use your hands.  Those guys were really good and it was fascinating to watch.
Evan just camped out at the sidelines and watched for a long time (I know secretly he was hoping they would ask him to play too)
My mom watched the kids on the beach while we went on a little walk.  It was a beautiful area.

We had some lunch in town and then walked along the water to the next town over (Cascais).  We made a few stops along the way to get back in the water.
It was a hot day, so the beach was pretty busy.  The Atlantic was just a little frigid though.  Even our kids only got in for a little bit.

The beach in Cascais was beautiful too
If we could just get Evan to look "normal" at the camera.....maybe one day

We had a wonderful day on the beach.

That evening we walked back up to the view point right behind our apartment.  The atmosphere was wonderful.  There was a guy playing music, we brought a bottle of Prosecco and watched the sunset......
This smile is just the cutest
Evan found a tree to climb in

It was a perfect ending to a great day.

The next morning we got ready to go on a two hours Sailboat tour.  We booked the 11am tour and lucked out, because it was just our group and nobody else joined.  It was another beautiful day.  The weather was amazing the entire time we were there.
It is always nice to see a city from the water.
The crew of the boat was amazing and very informative.  The description of this cruise said that they would have drinks and a snack on board.  In my mind I was thinking water and goldfish.  Ha!  The surprise was big when they made hot ham and cheese croissants and Pastel de Natas (little Portugese pastries).  They also served Champagne!
This cruise was amazing and we had the best morning.  Being on the water also always reminds me of my dad.  He loved being by and on the water.
We had enough wind to actually sail

Evan got a little antsy after a while ands went into the cabin.  I was sitting up top and looked down to see this.....

Evan is actually not making a silly face in this picture
Everything looks so different from the water
The food was so good.  Nora loved the ham and cheese croissants and wanted one every day after that

We sailed under the big bridge, which was a pretty cool view
We spent the rest of the day walking around Old Town.
Another great view point
We finally found a place to buy a painting for Hannah's room
This is the statue of the friendly lottery ticket salesman.  You are supposed to rub the lottery ticket in his hand for good luck.  There were several booths around there that sold lottery tickets.
We ended up at the top of the Elevator (the one we didn't go up on, becauze the line was too long).  It was beautiful up there.

Another ice cream break....

On our last night Scott ended up going to the ER.  He had gotten some type of bite on his arm in Germany and it kept getting worse all week.  It was swollen, the redness had spread and it was really hurting him.  We went to the pharmacy and they told him to head to the hospital.  So, Scott spent his Friday night at the ER in Lisbon.  They gave him antibiotics that eventually cleared up the bite.  They think it was a spider bite.

We walked to the biggest Flea Market in Lisbon on Saturday morning before heading to the airport in the afternoon.  It was huge and there was a lot of fun and good stuff, but also a lot of random stuff.  Ha!  We bought a few more souvenirs.  Hannah got some Sardine earrings :)

We flew to Zurich for the last part of our vacation.
