More Germany Fun

We had a few really hot days in Germany.  The temperature broke records and reached 104 one day.  It was hot, especially without air conditioning.  The streets were empty and everybody was either at the swimming pool or hiding in their basement.
We still had some fun and rode bikes to the beach at the river in the morning and got back home before it was too hot.

And of course we had to have some more ice cream
Hannah kept practicing hair styles on me.....most of the time I looked like I was going to some type of ball or wedding :)

No shoes, no shirt, no service does not apply to the ferry ride.....

We rode our bikes to the ferry and took it across the river to ride to a big pool.

It was so hot that day.  We swam and then spent the rest of the day inside.

Every year we have to visit the gummy bear factory outlet.  It's a highlight for the kids.

Yeah for all the gummy bears

We had to restrict ourselves a little this year since we had limited space in our luggage......our backpacks got really heavy after distributing all the gummy bears.

Another annual stop is the big costume store.  We may or may not have found everybody's Halloween costumes....Nora kept saying she wanted to be a swan and this is what she came back with

The next morning we rode our bikes to the farmers market and had breakfast on the square

By the afternoon it had really cooled off and started to rain a little.  We did an excursion to Drachenfels and rode the train up for some awesome views.

Of course the kids had to climb a little....

We stopped at the half way point to visit the castle.  Nora loved this part.

The kids each picked out their bedroom inside the castle

The grounds are really pretty too

We walked up the spiral staircase to the tower

After the rain a lot of snails had come out, which provided a lot of entertainment for the kids

Evan's face says it all.....stop with all the pictures

That night the kids stayed with my mom and Scott and I went out to eat on the river

We also took Hannah and Evan to a third league soccer game.  The first league hadn't started their season yet, so Viktoria Koeln was our only option.  There was quite a bit of scoring in this game and Koeln won, so we had a great afternoon.  Nora went with my brother and her cousins to an indoor playground and had just as much fun.

Goal......

During half time the kids did this......

Evan went against a kid that was quite a big bigger than him and he didn't stand a chance, but he didn't care....

On our last day in Germany we went to ride the coasters.....

And then stopped by a castle on the way home.....

That evening we took one last bike ride along the river and it didn't take long before our kids were in their underwear....

And one last stop at our favorite ice cream shop.

The next morning we got up bright and early to head to Lisbon......more on that next time.
