17 Months

Dear Hannah,
I say this every month and I will say it again.  I can't believe how fast time is flying by and you are already 17 months old. You have a strong personality and can be very stubborn.   You know what you want and you want it right then and there.   Your communication skills are getting better, but we still hear some whining when you can't tell us what you want.
You enjoy going to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.  There are always lots of kids and dogs running around.

Your daddy has been teaching you how to throw a ball and you really enjoy that.  You still like to clean and get your hands on a broom, vacuum or sponge whenever you can.
You are a copy cat and will do everything we do.  If we have to sneeze or blow our nose you will pretend to do the same.  You watch me get ready in the morning and you really like to use my powder brush on your face.  Your favorite songs are "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "If You're Happy And You Know It", "Old McDonald Had A Farm".  You can do a lot of the motions and you like to sing E-I-E-I-O.

This is what our living room looks like when you are playing

You really like Gymboree class and are always front and center when it is time to sing and dance with Gymbo.  You have recently become a pickier eater, especially when it comes to vegetables.  We have tried to give you some hummus or ranch to dip them in, but you just lick the dip of.  You really like dipping now and you have had some strange combinations.....bell peppers with BBQ sauce and graham crackers dipped in mac'n'cheese.  I sprinkled some parmesan cheese on your broccoli last night, but you still didn't eat it.  You did want to sprinkle parmesan on all your food and ended up with chicken, mashed potatoes and blueberries covered in parmesan.  Yum!
You are finally saying Mama and Daddy directly at us.  You have been saying the words for a while, but they were not always directed at us.  It is music to my ears to hear you say Mama.....it can't get any better than that!  I am still amazed by how you understand 2 languages.
You are still not a good sleeper and recently you have started to hate your crib.  It feels like you are scared of it.  We are going to start some sleep training in the next few days.  Hopefully next month I can report that you are a great sleeper!
We love you very much and you are the light of our lives.

  1. Hey! Congrats Miss Hannah on 17 months! ;) and on the Bow topic... I have my Hannah wear them ALL the time even around the house. They only time she doesnt wear a bow is when she is asleep ha! That way she just thinks its normal to have a big bow on her head.
