What A Difference

What a difference two weeks can make.   Two weeks ago the doctor intubated Evan and were talking about the possibility of ECMO (life support) and potential heart transplant.  Tonight we are talking about taking Evan home soon.  He has made a huge turnaround.  I do believe he is a little miracle.  He is such a little fighter and we are so proud of him.  I have lost track off time since we have been down here.  I have not watched the news (or any TV for that matter) or read a newspaper.  My whole perspective on life has changed.  I know more about what matters most.  Life is so precious and fragile. I am so thankful for our families and friends.  I would have not been able to stay this strong for Evan without you.  I am so thankful for Scott who has been mine and Hannah's rock throughout this.  I know this has made our marriage stronger.
I have had lots of mascara days this week.  My sweet friend Hellen sent me some more mascara in the mail and that just made me smile.  Evan has been stable and continues to get better.  We are now staying with him 24/7.  I am sitting by his bedside right now and he is just snoozing away.  They pulled the last lines and IV yesterday afternoon.  He is now only on a monitor.  I am still watching the monitor like a hawk and every beep still makes my heart jump.  They did another heart echo yesterday and his heart function has improved some more.  It is not back to normal yet, but hopefully with time it will heal some more and be back to 100%.  His kidney function looks to be improving as well.  All of his labs are looking good.  He is still on two blood pressure medicines and a blood thinner (he will most likely go home on all those medications).  He also gets several supplements at this time.  I do not like to think about all of the medication that has gone into his tiny little body.  It makes me sick to my stomach, but I do know the medications (and the intubation) saved his life.  We are still waiting on metabolic test results.  Hopefully we will get those soon.  If they come back negative (which we are really hoping) he may be able to start nursing.  Please continue to send your positive thoughts and prayers for complete healing our way.  I know they have made a huge difference in Evan's life.

What a difference two weeks can make.......
Today......

Evan is almost 3 weeks old and he was finally able to put on a shirt this evening.  Oh and he was mad, because he was hungry.

His sister has kept us busy and smiling also.  She is such an entertainer.  She has been spoiled by everybody since we have been here......This has been vacation, christmas and birthday all in one to her. She is ready for her little brother to come home.  She wants to play with him and help take care of him. I was on the phone the other day with the insurance company and I turned around to see this:
She was pumping milk for her baby brother.  She was wondering why no milk was coming out.  This made laugh so hard that I had tears in my eyes!

She played mannequin at the store and did a fashion show
