Wrapping up October

How is it already November 1st?  The weather has been unseasonably warm, which makes it even harder to believe that its' November 1st.  I am not complaining one bit.  I like 80 degree weather.  It did feel a little strange to go trick or treating in a t-shirt and shorts, but I will take it any day.  I am not looking forward to the cold weather.  The socks and shoes and jackets ect……it already takes us forever to get out of the house and all of the extra clothing will add so much more time.

First I wanted to document a few Evan quotes.  He is in such a funny stage right now.  I played "Old Maid" with him while Nora napped the other day and after the game he said "Mama I am so proud of you for trying to winning, but you got stuck with the old maid".
In the last week when something was missing or there was a mess and I asked him about it he always said "Maybe a ghost took it/did that".  Nice try.
On Saturday we got ready to go trick or treating on the square and Evan asked me for some glue.  I asked him why he needed glue and he said "Oh I am just glueing my bucket here, so I don't have to hold it".  He held the bucket up to his chest to show me where he wanted to glue it on to.  Pretty smart idea.
Evan has also been riding his bike without training wheels for the last few weeks.  He is very proud of himself, which he should be!

Ok, back to wrapping up October.  We have had a busy last week with lots of Halloween celebrations.

We carved another pumpkin and Evan requested Skye from Paw Patrol.  It wasn't an easy one, but we made it work.
Hannah had a pumpkin decorating contest at school and she wanted a cinderella carriage.
It turned out so cute
Hannah had her school carnival last week.  This was her class booth.
The kids always have so much fun at the carnival.  We all dressed up as pirates.
Getting ready for it
Gotta get a piece of cheese before heading to play a bunch of games
Saturday morning we headed to the square to trick or treat and let the kids pick a costume out of the box.  Well, Evan went for the bumble bee with fairy wings this time……and he owned it!
Hannah had a notebook in her hand, because she was writing down all of the costumes she saw.
Saturday night we went out for our first annual costume pub crawl with friends.  We had so much fun.  I will be looking forward to this tradition every year.
Morgan came to watch the kids and I set up a little Halloween party for them with spooky snacks and a few games.
Spider and mummy hot dogs
Bobbing for apples
Meanwhile this was going on…..at least Mr Slow kept us safe!
Very fun night with good friends
Sunday I took the kids to the Fall on the Farm event benefitting the Helen Walton Early Childhood Initiatives Center.  The weather was gorgeous and the kids had a lot of fun.  We brought a blanket and had a BBQ picnic while listening to some good music from Farmer and the Markets.
Nora kept getting up to dance in between bites
Then the kids enjoyed a balloon animal and some face painting and a s'more.
Crazy hair don't care
Yesterday we built a candy haunted house before heading out to trick or treat.
This little girl was more interested in sneaking candy than decorating
Last time dressing up for this year.  One more round of pirates
All three of the kids had a blast trick or treating and they stayed up a little too late.  The weather was beautiful out.  We went to our neighbors across the street for a bit who live on the main street for trick or treaters.  They gave out almost 3,000 pieces of candy last night.
The kids were a little sluggish this morning and had the Halloween hangover.

Hannah won the Kiwanis kid of the month for October.  She is doing awesome in school and we are super proud of her.
Getting ready to run through the tunnel.  I had to hold on to Evan who was about to start running through the tunnel after Hannah

Then he found Eve to sit next to
It was a fun and busy October.  Can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us.
