Spring always seems to be a busy time of year. All the sports and end of year activities at school. How is it possible that the kids only have 4 weeks of school left? And then we will have a 1st Grader and a Middle School kid. Both kids have had a great school year thanks to their wonderful teachers. Evan had a few weeks here and there where he really struggled and didn't want to go to school, but lately it's been great and he is doing wonderful in school.
Last Friday Scott and I were heading out of town for the weekend. Our flight was not until early afternoon, so we surprised the kids with coming to have lunch with them at school. Oh how I loved that surprise time with them. I went to Evan and Hannah's lunch and Scott met Nora at preschool. I packed a fake lunch that morning, so they wouldn't have any idea. That may have been their favorite part of the entire surprise. Ha!
Evan opening his lunch box.....and I brought him his favorite food, pizza!

His smile was so cute!

I packed a bunch of play food.

Nora's lunch was at the same time as Evan's, so Scott sent me a few pictures.
She got her favorite food, chick fil a!

Here she is holding the plastic chicken I packed in her lunch box.

I forgot that at her preschool they already set out their lunches before the kids come into the lunch room. The lunch helper was probably wondering why Nora had a bunch of play food in her lunch box. ....and a little bowling pin (I needed to add a little more weight to hers, so it felt like a real lunch) ha!

Then it was Hannah's turn and she got her favorite food, Subway!

Hannah had a big day on Friday. It was the Charlie May Simon tournament at school. Every year the state of Arkansas puts out a list of books for 4th Graders (selected by a committee) to encourage reading and discussions of books. Hannah read all 16 Chapter books this year. After reading the books they have to take a little quiz with one of the teachers and get a charm. At the end of the school year the 4th grade classes compete against each other answering questions about all of the books. Each class has a team of 4 and Hannah was the team captain for her class. Her and her teammates have been studying for weeks for this tournament. She had been super excited and nervous about this.
Here she is wearing her team shirt.

I was really bummed to miss it, but Scott and I had to head to the airport to catch a flight for our little weekend getaway. I had reached out to Evan's teacher to see if he would be able to go watch Hannah and she made it happen. One of his Specials teachers took Evan down there, so he can watch his sister compete.
And Hannah's team won!!!!

They should be really proud and now they get to compete next week against the other schools from the district.
Evan was proud of his big sister.
Scott and I headed to Destin, FL for a little anniversary getaway. It was our 12th anniversary this past weekend!
We had a wonderful time. Of course we talked about the kids a lot and missed them, but it was also very nice to spend some time together without interruptions.
How can you not be happy when this is your view????

We made it our goal to eat seafood for every meal and we succeeded (except for breakfast).

Another dinner on the beach......

We did enjoy sitting on the beach, but after a couple of hours both of us get antsy and we start walking on the beach.....

Meanwhile the kids had a great time and weren't spoiled at all :)

Hannah had a Girls Scout event on Friday night.

Eating some ice cream....

Going out to dinner

Playing on the playground

Making cards for our anniversary

Some more ice cream

It sure feels good to know your kids are well taken care of when gone. It does take a village!
Last week Hannah wasn't feeling well and I took her to the doctor. It ended up being really bad allergies and not an infection.
This was Nora while waiting.....she is such a Hoot!

I just realized that I never posted about our Easter. We had a beautiful weekend and celebrated Easter with friends.
Easter baskets for everybody......except for Scott. He had told me that he got me a little something (I was thinking a chocolate bunny or so....) for easter, but it was a really nice basket with lots of surprises and I felt a little guilty.

Ready to go egg hunting (Hannah was still at a sleepover and missed the early egg hunt)

Nora petting a dog at church

Getting ready to unleash the kids for the egg hunt.......the adults are definitely outnumbered now.

Candy trading.....

.....and egg coloring
