Sedona Adventure with my Mom

My mom flew in from Germany and we met in Phoenix, AZ a few weeks ago to spend some quality time together in Sedona.  Oh, how wonderful that time was.  It was the perfect place to spend some uninterrupted time with just my mom.  We may need to make this an annual trip :)

Neither one of us had been to Sedona, so it was fun to explore together.  We flew into Phoenix late on Monday night and drove to Sedona early on Tuesday morning.  When we booked this trip we didn't realize that October is a very busy month for Sedona, but it was still very enjoyable even though everything was very busy.
We decided to start our trip with a Pink Jeep tour, just so we can get an impression of everything Sedona has to offer.  We had a great guide and a wonderful tour.
These Jeeps are pretty fun and can go up and down some pretty steep terrain.
It is so hard to capture the beauty of the red rocks in pictures.

We had perfect weather and it was low to mid 80's during the day and then really cooled off at night to low 40's.

 I love the Panoramic picture

It was a great way to start our trip to Sedona.  Afterwards we checked into our VRBO.  It was a perfect space for us.  We stayed in the Village of Oak Creek, which is about a 15-20min into Uptown Sedona.  The place was so cute, the hosts thought of everything (it was the best equipped VRBO I have ever stayed at) and we had great views of Bell Rock.

I went on a run the next morning and while Sedona is beautiful it is also not flat!
But I came back to these views.  This was taken right outside our VRBO.

We sat here for a while drinking coffee and talking.

Meanwhile the kids were having no fun at all!

After our morning coffee we went on a beautiful hike around Bell rock and Courthouse Butte. What a wonderful morning!
You can climb up Bell rock too.  I kept thinking about how much the kids would enjoy that.
 A little selfie time

After our morning hike we took a little bit of a break before heading to the creek for a picnic lunch.  We picked up sandwiches and headed down to the creek to eat.  From there we hiked up towards Cathedral rock and it was beautiful.
This was a perfect little lunch spot.  The VRBO provided chairs and blankets for guests, which was really nice for a picnic.

Then we hiked closer to cathedral rock

That night we went out to a fancy dinner at Cress on Oak Creek at the L'Auberge de Sedona hotel.  We sat right by the creek and enjoyed a 3 course meal.
Then it was past our bed time and we headed starlight home.  Sedona was a 9 hour time difference for my mom and only 2 hours for me, but we would both feel it at night.

The next chapter of our trip took us to the Grand Canyon.
