Birthday and Baking

Well, this little girl turned the big 5 !!!
I do not know how we did life before her.  She is so full of life and joy!
Please do not mention to me that she will go to Kindergarten next year.  I am going too really miss my little buddy.
She is the most helpful around the house and she is a wonderful doll mommy. It is so cute and heart warming to watch her take care of her babies.  I had to take her to a meeting with me last week and she brought a baby and sat next to me and fed the baby, changed her diaper and rocked her.  Then she asked me if she can stand up, because she really needs to calm down her baby.  She stood up and bounced her baby to calm her down.....it was so sweet.
Her birthday table.  Evan was very excited to help me set up her table the night before.
This little girl is also full of personality and makes us laugh all of the time.  She keeps up with the best of them and is not afraid of much.
She is still by far our best eater and loves everything I make (especially vegetables).  She is also a little garbage disposal and puts away a lot of food.

Nora wanted to open two presents in the morning before preschool and then open the rest after school.  She stuck to it and only opened two.  Evan was trying hard to convince her to open just one more (he would have had them all opened in no time).
She opened the present from my brother first....

A doll potty training set.  She loves it.
Then she opened the present from my mom .....
.....And it was a new scooter.  She got one for her 3rd birthday and always called it the Happy Birthday Scooter.  That one was too small now, so she is very happy with the new Happy Birthday Scooter.

We had Nora's party this past weekend and Nora requested that Hannah bakes her cake.  Nora's party was at a rock climbing place, so she requested a climbing cake.....Hannah was up for the challenge.  I helped bake the cake, because Hannah really just wants to decorate.

I am a measure exact kind of person and Hannah is more of an eyeball it kind of person, so that can lead to a little bit of tension in the kitchen :)
We made quite the mess in the process.....
We settled on a marble cake and a vanilla cake.....all made from scratch

Now the fun part

We really needed grey fondant o make it look like a rock climbing wall, but they did not have that, so we used the color mist spray and it actually turned out great.

Hannah made the fondant rock climber all by herself.  We do know it looks like the girl just face planted, but the cake wasn't tall enough to put the climber on the "wall".
Hannah wasn't done yet and had to add the rope and harness.
 The finished product.

Evan and Nora wanted a picture with the cake too....
We also realized that we would need a second cake to feed everybody, so we made a triple layer vanilla cake with butter cream frosting.
It was a lot of work and a lot of fun making these cakes.
