Christmas is over, we all survived 2020, Christmas decorations are packed up, kids are back in school today and I am finally sitting down to update the Blog.
We had a wonderful Christmas break with lots of family time.
The week before Christmas I received a phone call saying that I had been exposed to COVID at a doctors office 8 days prior. I had no symptoms, but just to be safe I went and got tested. I went to a drive-through testing facility and after all of this time and constatnly seeing these type of images it still felt like I was in a movie.....
I guess 2020 is not complete unless you have an image like that in your camera roll :). My test was negative.
Our annual Christmas Party with friends sure looked different this year......zoom call dinner and cocktail hour:)
Part of our Christmas Party was a family scavenger hunt.
We all did the scavenger hunt on our own time and then during the call we talked about how many of the things we accomplished in 35 minutes.....the Clubine's always love a good scavenger hunt
During break we did lots of baking and crafts and one of them was to make our own snow globes....
The Elf had a few good Shenanigans up his sleeve.....
Nora brought the Elf (who was sitting in her doll high chair) over to watch the skittle experiment
It really was pretty cool to watch
We made German Christmas cookies and tried our hand at hot chocolate bombs......they actually turned out pretty good.
We did more hiking and while we usually hear some complaining before we go, everybody always enjoys the fresh air
On Christmas Eve we played a few minute to win it type of games.....this is the only picture I got.
Of course we made cookies for Santa.....
......and opened my moms gift (on Christmas Eve)
Last summer aunt Ashley left some Nivea sunscreen (that she got in the UK) at our house and every time I smelled it I told the kids that it reminded me of my childhood in Germany.....it is amazing how smells can trigger memories. Several weeks ago Hannah wrote a letter to my mom and put some money into the envelope and asked my mom to mail some Nivea sunscreen for me for Christmas. My mom tried to search for it online and have it shipped here, but couldn't find it, so she reached out to Scott who was able to locate some Nivea sunscreen for me. I was really surprised and couldn't believe Hannah remembered this and thought of contacting my mom to get the sunscreen. Such a special and sweet moment.
We were pleasantly surprised when the kids slept until 7am on Christmas morning.....
We spent all morning lounging around and going through stockings and opening gifts.......this was the first time we were able to stretch out and not just tear into everything by 8am.
Everybody had a great Christmas.
Evan started on the Lego Yoda he got.....
It has over 1000 pieces......
