When Hannah was in 1st grade we took her on a solo trip to New York City to watch a show on Broadway. We decided that we would do this with each kid. A few weekends ago we finally took Evan on his trip (it was cancelled last year). We are planning on Nora's trip for next year.
Evan chose to go to Nashville to watch the Chiefs play the Titans. Scott is a big Chiefs fan and Evan really likes Derrick Henry who plays for the Titans.
We got to Nashville on Friday night and just had a late dinner before heading to bed.
The next morning we walked downtown a little and found the stadium
We surprised Evan with a private Escape Room experience. We have done a few before and Evan loves an Escape Room. Since it was just the 3 of us we weren't sure how well we would do (the room is for up to 8 people).
We had such a fun time with this Escape Room. This was a very well planned out and high tech room and we were super impressed. It was actually 3 rooms, but we didn't know that. You entered one of the rooms through a slide.....you had to shoot some targets, pump water through a gold mine and things were popping out from trees and walls when you solved a problem.
We had to ask for some hints, but at the end we escaped with 3 seconds left on the clock. Evan wanted to stay and do the other rooms that they had to offer, he had so much fun! The guide that helped us was really impressed with Evan. This kind of thinking is exactly how his mind works.
This is the Escape Room we did
Before moving on to our next activity we spent a little time at the rooftop pool and bar. The pool was heated, but still Evan was the only one in it all weekend.
In the afternoon we did a golf cart tour through Nashville. Since we had never been there we thought this was a good way to see the most important landmarks.
Being on the back of a golf cart kept Evan entertained enough as well.
We were cruising and it was a good thing we were buckled in :)
We had dinner at Emmy Squared.
Evan felt like "big stuff" getting a Coke and drinking out of the bottle.
Meanwhile the girls were having a great weekend with Robin and Eve doing all the things! Dance competition, soccer, gymnastics, Cotillion and a birthday sleepover for Nora with her best friend.
Sunday morning it was time to get ready for the game. We walked from our hotel to the stadium.
We had a little bit of a "house divided" situation going on since Evan was wearing his Derrick Henry Jersey.
We had really good seats and it was a hot day.
It was not a good day for the Chiefs though.
Evan loved taking some zoomed in pictures. We had great seats, but not that close:)
Back home the girls went to the Pumpkin patch.
We got up super early to head to the airport on Monday morning. We had already been ate the airport an hour when our flight was delayed by 5 hours (there was bad weather).....knowing how these things work we rushed to the rental car place and were able to snag one of the last cars. Good thing we did, because our flight was cancelled later that morning.
It was an 8 hour drive, so not that bad. We made it home by 4pm!
I am going to cherish these one on one trips. We still talk about Hannah's solo trip frequently.
So many great memories were made.
