Roadtrip

Since our plans to go to Germany for Christmas were derailed we decided last minute to go on a road trip.  We are typically not a road trip family......I really don't like sitting in a car for that long, but since COVID we have been on several and at the end of the day it's not that bad.  We decided to get a condo on the beach on Okaloosa Island and broke up the drive by stopping in Nashville on the way there.

We had booked another Escape room for the day we arrived in Nashville (we took Evan to Nashville in October and did an Escape room at this place and he absolutely loved it and wanted his sisters to experience one at this place as well).

We did a different room and the 5 of us managed to escape!  It was a lot of fun.

They offer you a discount if you book another game during your visit, so we did. Ha.  We should be  pro's at this by now.   We booked another room for the next day.  We did not do that well on this one.  It was quite disappointing.  The room was really cool and fun, but it took the 5 of us a while to get going.....we did escape at the end of the day, but needed lots of clues and some extra time:)

It was warm enough to sit outside for dinner.

The next morning we walked across the bridge and then around the Titans stadium.

Hannah was doing her leg hold (which she likes to do everywhere), which then turned into a photo shoot of all of us trying a leg hold:)
Scott's turn.....

Nora's looks much better.....she is really close to being able to do it without holding on to somebody

Oh and then it was Evan's turn.....not sure what you would call his attempt at a leg hold

And my attempt wasn't any better.....

The next day we drove the rest of the way to Florida and got there just in time to put our toes into the sand before sunset

All of the condos on Okaloosa Island are 5 story buildings, so it was nice not to have the big high rise buildings along the beach.  It was also not very busy at all.

We had a grocery pick up order waiting for us and made dinner at the condo and enjoyed the sound of the waves from the balcony

The next morning we spent some fun time on the beach until it started sprinkling a little bit.  Overall we had really warm and great weather.
This kid never sits down.....he was playing football against himself.  It is actually quite entertaining to watch.

Views from our condo

These two requested breakfast in bed.....I guess it wouldn't be a vacation if you don't get breakfast in bed :)

The girls built themselves a comfy lounge "chair"
We did lots of sand castle building

Hannah's arial on the beach, it look pretty cool

We went out to lunch one time to The Gulf.  It is a really cool outdoor spot and the atmosphere is great. We were really surprised that it was not busy at all.
Lunch with a great view.

We had read (on the weather app) that there was a rip current warning for our  location.  We went into the water for just a little bit on the first day and realized quickly that it was rough and had lots of currents.
During our few days there we saw the beach patrol multiple times having to rescue people....

The condo had a heated pool and multiple hot tubs, so we got in there quite a bit

We really did luck out with the weather.....the day after we left a cold front hit.

On our way home we decided to just drive the entire way in one day......that was the longest I have ever been in a car ion one day.  But we made it and were glad we did go all the way through, so that we had two full days at home before starting school again.  We packed up all of our Christmas decorations and the kids enjoyed getting to play with their Christmas gifts (since we left on Christmas Day they didn't even have a chance to enjoy them yet).
