More Life Lately

Today I am sharing a little bit more of our Life Lately and then I should be all caught up.

In early March Evan and Nora played in the Sporting Spring soccer tournament. It was a fun weekend of soccer.  Both of their teams won the tournament and we had some happy kids.  Nothing better than a medal and a trophy!

It is so fun to see their progress and the way they are truly becoming a team!  Evan has an awesome coach, which makes a world off a difference.  Thank you coach Christophe.

Nora's team still plays on the smaller fields 4 v 4 and it is fun to watch them learn and play.  It has served Nora well to have Evan as a big brother.  She is used to playing with him and is a tough little player.

We spent Scott's birthday in Tulsa at a dance competition.  We packed up his gifts and some Star Wars decorations for the hotel room.

After two years parents were allowed back into the school building.  I took advantage of that right away and surprised Evan and Nora for lunch. I packed them a fake lunch with stuff from the play kitchen.  Evan was super surprised and it was so much fun to sit with him and talk about his day

The fake lunch!

Apparently I didn't get a picture with Nora when I had lunch with her.  Since Nora started school during the Pandemic I have never had the chance to have lunch with her or volunteer in her classroom.

I got a few pictures with her when I came in for the Reward Slime Party.

I did go help with Evan's slime party as well...

He tried to get me with the slime

It feels so nice to be able to go into the school building again!  I have missed it.

We took it easy on April Fools Day this year......

I did get Evan and Nora though.  They missed their indoor soccer practice the night before, so I told them that their coaches sent an email saying if you missed practice you have to do 20 Full Burpees and a parent has to video it and send it to the coach......got them good.  Both started doing full burpees and I didn't stop them until they were at least 6 in and I do have it on video :)

I also couldn't resist messing with their lunch boxes.  It is now a tradition.

Replaced the sucker with a grape tomato.
I switched out the goldfish and cookies (taped the bottom back up)

All three got some Donuts Seeds :)
The Pringles were also replaced with Goldfish....

I also wrapped Evan's chrome book in "Baby" gift wrap (which I accidentally bought on grocery pick up, I thought it was birthday wrapping paper)

For Nora I wrapped her entire backpack

This made me think of Hannah right away.....that girl loves her snacks.  I sent the picture to her and she agreed that se needs that bed in her life!

On April 2nd I ran the Bentonville Half Marathon again.  The last 2 years was a virtual race where you had to run on your own and turn in your mileage.  It is just not the same (even though I still like the medals from those two years as well.....now I know where my kids get their excitement for medals from).
My knee had been acting up quite a bit the week of the Half and I contemplated not running it.  Then I decided to go for it.  I had no real plan in mind.
I met Ashley at the starting line and she said they are going to start out at a 7:10 pace and I thought to myself that I can do that for a few miles......after 1 mile in I look at my watch and we were at 6:30.  At that point I made it my goal to still keep Ashley in my eyesight.  Her red shirt got quite a bit ahead of me at some point, but overall I was always still able to keep her in my eyesight (deepening on how the roads were).
I am SO excited and pleased with my race.  I had no idea that I can do it and it wasn't necessarily enjoyable, because I ran hard.  It was a PR for me for sure.....this old lady can still run :)
The thing I am most excited about is the average pace of 6:59......it has a 6 in the front (barely, but still).

Scott and the kids came to the finish line.....they always hand out pizza and chick fil a breakfast sandwiches for racers.  I am not sure how you could eat that right after running, but my kids were super pumped to split a chick fil a sandwich three ways :)

Finish Line pictures....

These are the official race pictures.

Somebody shared this picture.  I had already told the kids about this sign
The same night we went to the Sporting Arkansas Fundraiser gala.  It felt nice to get dressed up and hang out with friends.  It is really fun that we have multiple friends kids play for Sporting Arkansas.  Sure makes all the time at the soccer fields more exciting.

Last, but not least......Nora had her first Field Trip!!!!!  She was very excited about it.  She finally got to go on a field trip (due to the pandemic she had never been on one) and ride the school bus.  I think riding the school bus was her favorite part.  I signed up to go and met the class at the One Room School House out by the lake.

I offered Nora to ride home with me and come home early a little bit.  She politely declined, because she wanted to ride the school bus back.
