Thanksgiving in Italy

This year we decided to head to Italy for Thanksgiving break.  It was a great decision :)

We had a wonderful trip and got to see Ashley and Derek and my mom.

We spent a night in NYC on both sides of the trip, because we had to change airports in New York.  This gave us almost a full day in NYC on the way there.  We spent the morning walking around and saw the Statue of Liberty and the 911 Memorial.  In the afternoon we went to see Wicked on Broadway!  This was our second time seeing it and it was still amazing.

Then we headed to the airport for our overnight flight to Rome.  When we landed in Rome the next morning we still had a little bit of a journey ahead of us.  We took the train to the main train station in Rome, then another train to Naples and then a taxi from Naples to Sorrento.

We checked into our hotel, Evan and Nora swam for a bit and then we walked around Sorrento for a while.

The view from our room.  It was quite overcast that day, but overall we actually had really good weather.

It cleared up right as we were heading out to explore the town for a while.
You were able to see Mount Vesuvius from the hotel.

First Gelato of the trip....and definitely not the last:)

Of course we had pizza and pasta for dinner and called it a night pretty early.

We had to get up early for a full day of exploring the Amalfi Coast.
Breakfast with a view of Mount Vesuvius.

We had the best weather with nothing but blue skies!  It was such a great day that I will cherish forever.
I had booked a driver that would take us around all day.  I am glad we did that.  The drive along the Amalfi Coast is not for the faint of heart.  First of all if you get car sick (thankfully nobody does in our family) this might be challenging and second of all if you are afraid of heights or small curvy roads that go along cliffs then this might not be for you either :)
But the beauty of it is breathtaking.

Our driver told us that the drive that took us 30min could easily take two hours in the summer, because it is so crowded.  The downside to the off season is that not everything is open, but I will take that any day.
Our first stop was Positano!
The view was spectacular

And then I found some selfies on my phone

It has now become a tradition for Hannah to do a leg hold picture.....we have quite a few in lots of different locations.
From this view point we made our way into the town and got to walk around for a while.

It was still pretty early in the morning, so it was a little chilly out, but it quickly warmed up.

Just a little dancing going on here....

We made our way down to the water
Not a cloud in the sky!

From Sorrento we drove to Amalfi.  We had a little boat tour scheduled !
It is always fun to see a town from the water.

After our boat tour we enjoyed walking around Amalfi and had a late lunch

From Amalfi we made our way back to Sorrento and enjoyed the evening there.
First up was watching a little World Cup soccer!

Then we also found this Pub that we went to every night....
We put our names on a $1 and they hung it up in the Pub
